Over the past 10 years we’ve worked hard at building our businesses and now we want to help like-minded people like you build theirs.

Who we are

We are made up of a team of recruiters with over 80 years of combined recruitment experience across multiple sectors, disciplines and locations. We started in the same place - the place where you are now.

We are led by James Caan CBE, former Dragons' Den star and serial entrepreneur. As Chairman he works closely with us and our portfolio, offering a wealth of knowledge and know-how to learn from.

Our story

The Kevin Edward Group portfolio stood out to James Caan through its ability to scale quickly over the past three years. As a result and after months of preparation, a partnership opportunity was formed to bridge the gap in offerings from both established recruitment empires.

Recruitment Growth Catalyst is an amalgamation of James' vast experience in growing successful recruitment businesses with a plan to exit; alongside the fast-paced and innovative business approach of the Kevin Edward Group. The two groups work hand in hand at Recruitment Growth Catalyst to help like-minded people start and scale their own world-class recruitment organisations.

Caan CBE


James has been in recruitment for over 30 years and invests in recruitment companies of all sizes across various geographies and sectors. Alexander Mann, his first recruitment business, sold in 2013 for £260 million. His second recruitment venture, Humana International, grew to 140 offices across 30 countries. His third sale was a collection of six recruitment companies to Graphite Capital in 2014 for £100m.

Kevin is a visionary investor and experienced CEO. He has over 15 years’ experience in the recruitment sector and has built 20+ businesses from the ground-up over his 10 years of business ownership.

Kevin's ethos as Chief Executive is one of inclusivity; he insists on sharing opportunities with his business partners and fuelling wealth creation among his team. He believes that by making the journey life-changing for his peers, they can all pull in the same direction and support each other through challenging times.

Group Director

Stuart is a highly accomplished Director with over 15 years’ recruitment experience in Consultant, Sales Director, and Managing Director positions, which have involved managing and growing teams across multiple industry sectors. Stuart naturally has a confident and engaging style of communication; combined with his recruitment experience and his board level management experience, it makes him an excellent partner for any organisation.

Having worked as a Managing Director and as a Sales Director, Stuart is excellently positioned to relate to the stress and challenges of having the right people in the right positions, as well as the negative impact of getting this critical process wrong.

Chief Operations Officer

Greg is Recruitment Growth Catalyst's COO.

With over 22 years’ business development and management experience, Greg develops our operational strategy and supports the portfolio partners with increasing sales performance and attracting the right talent to join them in the portfolio.

Greg assists the portfolio partners with setting their sales and business development strategy and ensuring the latest tools and infrastructure are successfully adopted and implemented across the group.





Abid trained as a lawyer working in corporate finance before entering recruitment 25 years ago. He has worked in over 35 countries in various CEO roles and was investor and director of a UK FTSE250 company, as well as a Non-Executive Director for multiple recruitment companies.

He founded ARBP, which trained recruiters in 22 countries and has a wealth of experience in building and managing teams.

Abid oversees all group activity at board level and works closely with each of the portfolio partners to assist them in achieving their long-term growth plans. 

Marc Rayner



Operations Director

Marc heads up the Finance, Marketing & Operations teams for the Kevin Edward group, as well as managing a number of accounts, recruiting for roles from office junior up to board level.

All things to do with business operations and finance come under Marc and his Operations Team’s remit, including managing all job board, LinkedIn, CRM, IT support and any other business resource provider relationships, handling all contract negotiations, to ensure all group businesses have the resources that they want available to them, at the most competitive rates possible.

The group marketing department is also headed up by Marc, through a team of dedicated, qualified marketing professionals, who focus on all things brand related, ensuring each brand has its own identity within the Kevin Edward Group.

Marc also manages all things finance through his Finance Team, including invoicing, accounts payable and payroll, as well as dealing with all things HMRC, business insurance and local authority related.

Finance Director

Angus leads the finance team and assists with the investment cycle, conducting due diligence and project managing live origination deals. His involvement in the strategy and planning for the existing portfolio businesses serves to drive value creation.

Angus has a wealth of managerial and board-level experience and has recently completed an MBA at Cass Business School.

Angus oversees all financial operations across the group. His team manages and maintains cash flow, accounts, and payroll, and produces all budget plans and financial forecasting for businesses within the group.

Investment Director

Andy is the founder and Managing Director of CRP Group which specialises in Interim and Project Consultancy work across a range of divisions including IT, Legal, Engineering and Public Sector amongst others.

Setting up in March 2020, CRP have come through the Covid-19 year increasing head count to 5 staff and two offices. Their team of specialists tend to excel in the ‘hard to fill’ category using various recruitment strategies to meet client demand. This in turn has led to excelling in the Legal Consultancy market, providing candidates with up to £1m a year following to some of the world’s leading Law firms. Andy is extremely hands-on and firmly believes in leading by example. This flows down to those that he has trained, and he believes that empowering those around you is the quickest route to success.

James Smethurst




James heads up our international search practice and was recruited for his specialist experience at board & CXO level, as well as his diverse knowledge across different markets and functions. His role is focused on developing and growing our presence internationally, and to strengthen our relationships with new and existing customers. He is experienced working with start-ups through to large multinational PLC’s.

Shaun Muir




Shaun is an experienced recruiter and proven head hunter, with a successful track record of growing teams across multiple offices and market sectors. He is self-motivated and driven with a staff and client-first mentality. He is one of our group directors, a co-founder of multiple contract, permanent, and executive search recruitment brands, and is a director/shareholder in all of the KE Group recruitment businesses.
